Concept
Lamy Kamu is a variation of the Lamy WF concept, where the primary idea that gave rise to the classic Lamy Safari is revisited to showcase a new product. The word "safari" means "journey" in Swahili, the lingua franca of East-Central Africa. Its root is the Arabic voice "safar." A safari is an expedition or journey carried out in certain regions of Africa. According to the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), a safari is undertaken for big game hunting or as a photographic excursion in some regions of Africa.
By integrating the most representative elements into the design of the fountain pen, such as camouflage graphics, nuanced textures, and gunmetal finishes, Lamy Kamu captures the essence of the safari experience.

Textures & Finishes.
To ensure consistency throughout the various parts of the product, we used a hexagonal pattern for the anti-slip grip. The stainless steel nib is finished in graphite with a subtle satin texture, and the vent hole and nib tip are coated with gold plating to improve durability against wear and tear.
Packaging.
The packaging is inspired by cases used for high-caliber hunting rifles. Metal details unify the concept between the case and the fountain pen.
Details.
Small details maintain the envisioned concept. The ink cartridges evoke the appearance of ammunition cartridges, while the internal foam used for securing the elements within the packaging, dual-material nib, galvanized wire, and logo silk-screened among others, all contribute to this cohesive theme.
